Proposal Application Requirements

Proposals may be submitted during the open window (May 15 to September 30) via the online submission process using a Microsoft Form.  It is preferred that you have all information at the time of submission, but you may enter the form later to submit documents. 

  1. Names of principal and co-investigators
  2. Title, Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methods, References (15 max)
    1. Introduction, Literature Review, & Methods sections (1500-word limit total)
    2. Content should all be written at a level and in language that can be understood across disciplines, i.e. with clarity and specificity written for a broader audience. The convened panels evaluating projects are interdisciplinary.
    3. The project purpose, design, methods should clearly and specifically address how the project will meet DC goal(s).
    4. It should be clear if this is an Initial application or a Continuation application.
  3. Statement explaining advancement of Doherty Center goals (500-word limit)
  4. Budget, Timeline
    1. The submitted budget should include all anticipated expenses.
    2. Unanticipated expenses and/or expenses not included in the budget will not be reimbursed.
  5. S (if applicable)
    1. Briefly describe the role and functions of the research assistant in the project.
    2. Indicate the number of hours per week and total number of hours anticipated for each student Research Assistant.
    3. Describe necessary pre-requisite knowledge or experience.
    4. Explain how the student research assistant will be trained.
    5. Describe safety measures that will be put in place to protect the student.
    6. Timeline for students must be clear and detailed with delineated roles/responsibilities in the project, each tied to a specific student (not a group of students).
  6. Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Responsible Conduct of Research training completed for all investigators and student researchers
  7. Institutional Review Board approval (IRB) (if required)
    1. If required, Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval should be obtained prior to DC submission.*
    2. *If approval is pending, evidence of completed IRB application must be submitted with DC submission. Once approved by IRB, the project director must forward an update of status to the DC.
  8. Institutional Biosafety Committee approval (IBC) (if required)
    1. If required, Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) approval should be obtained prior to DC submission.*
    2. *If approval is pending, evidence of completed IBC application must be submitted with DC submission. Once approved by IBC, the project director must forward an update of status to the DC.
  9. Consultants (if included)
  10. Other supporting documents (if applicable)
